Java Developer (Mid Level)

NexGen is currently seeking a Java Web Application Developer-Full Stack (Mid-Level) to design, develop, and maintain applications. We are searching for an individual with experience in Java/JEE development with an Oracle backend.  This individual will be required to work closely with members of the NexGen and client’s teams, including but not limited to subject matter experts, technical leads, and project managers.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Deliver reliable and high-quality code to meet requirements withing tight deadlines.
  • Translate business specifications into cohesive software design and implementation. 
  • Modify applications and subsystems including bug fixes of the code. This includes manual intervention to fix production aborts. 
  • Provide technical assistance to Client for future upgrades to the development tools (such as Eclipse) and environments.  
  • Collaborate with Client to review punch-list/Jira items and assist in making recommendations for fixes and enhancements to supported applications. 
  • Test all application changes and prepare deployments. 
  • Assist Client personnel in providing support for all applications maintained. 
  • Assist the Help Desk personnel with troubleshooting any software problems with the appropriate level of expertise related to the application or any of its subsystems. 
  • Notify the Client Project Manager of any unresolved user problems or other areas of concern. 
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

  

Technical Skills/Experience: 

  • Strong background in Java Full Stack programming language including Java EE web application development.
  • 3-5 years of experience programming Web Services. 
  • Strong background in Java Front-End development.
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented concepts, design patterns, and modern application frameworks. 
  • Familiarity with all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle. 
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies. 
  • Object Oriented Analysis, Design and Programming. 
  • Java/Java EE Web application development using JSF, JSP, Struts, Seam, Hibernate, and Spring framework components. 
  • JavaScript including jQuery or Angular6 + and AngularJS. 
  • HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS3), Bootstrap. 
  • Experience with TypeScript. 
  • Background in Restful Webservices. 
  • Java EE containers such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss and/or other industry-standard Java EE application servers. 
  • Git, Maven and other standard Source Control and Build tools. 
  • Windows and Linux proficiency.
  • Business rules implemented in Java and Oracle databases. 
  • Use of SQL to access and manipulate data in Oracle databases. 
  • Advanced Relational Database Concepts. 
  • Understanding of all aspects of XML and XML parsers. 
  • Knowledge of patterns in software development. 
  • Prior production support experience.

  • The candidate should also possess strong oral and written communication, problem-solving skills, and should be a team player.
  • The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
  • US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements. 

  

Education: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science degree or related discipline with 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
