GIS Azure Storage Implementation Specialist (Part Time)

NexGen is currently seeking a GIS Azure Storage Implementation Specialist who will work closely with clients in implementing and maintaining proven IT/GIS strategies for their Azure Blob use with ESRI and other GIS-related products, help to promote the utilization of GIS based on customer needs and business value, and support the client’s strategic vision. This position will consult with customers to understand business needs and guide them on how to best apply Azure products/technology. As a GIS Azure Storage Implementation Specialist, the candidate should demonstrate a deep understanding of cloud-based architecture and hosting infrastructure.  This individual will be required to work closely with members of NexGen and client’s teams, including but not limited to domain experts, and technical leads.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Define best practices for deploying ArcGIS platform and design systems, including integration to non-ESRI platforms, to meet business needs. 
  • Support defining a customer’s geospatial strategy to achieve business objectives. 
  • Support ArcGIS Enterprise deployment and/or administration solutions in cloud environments, such as Azure. 
  • Use of ALL ESRI Products with Azure Storage (Pro, Server, Portal). 
  • Use of non-ESRI GIS software with Azure Storage such as ENVI, ERDAS, Global Mapper, and related. 
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Technical Skills: 

  • 5+ years of experience architecting, implementing, and administrating enterprise IT-GIS solutions/systems that leverage the ArcGIS enterprise platform (desktop, server, and online). 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with ESRI software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Runtime, and their associated APIs or interfaces. 
  • Experience in platform architecture, solution design, project envisioning, planning, developing, deployment, security, identity management frameworks, cloud, and scalability. 
  • Experience with Azure Storage and Windows Server environments. 
  • Experience in a wide variety of remote sensing workflows including Landsat, aerial photography, UAV acquisition workflows, LiDaR, etc. 
  • Experience with configuring Azure Storage accounts in Azure including configuring Blob Storage with ENTRA, security configuration, etc. 
  • Programming and scripting experience with Python, JavaScript, and PowerShell. 
  • Experience with ArcGIS, location-based services, geo-enabled apps, spatial analytics, or similar geospatial technology. 
  • Experience with current technology implementation patterns including service-oriented architectures and cloud hybrid configurations. 
  • Experience designing, administering, and/or maintaining Azure cloud environments, supporting 24×7 high-availability GIS production environments. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with software engineering and/or robust application development principles and practices. 
  • Ability to assist the client in not only identifying technical barriers to use of Blob Storage, but also articulating user needs. 
  • Ability to communicate complex details to users using IT-compatible requirements. 

  

Desired Skills: 

  • Microsoft Azure (AZ-104 and/or 900) Certification. 
  • Familiarity with Azure services, storage, networking, and virtual machine concepts. 
  • Experience with Federal IT-Azure environments is strongly preferred.

  • Strong, persuasive communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas-both verbally and in written form--whether to customers, executives, or other technical or non-technical peers. 
  • Must be able to obtain a government clearance. 
  • The successful candidate will be able to pass background screening prior to employment.  
  • US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements. 

 

Education:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, GIS, or a related field.
