MS 365 Administrator (Part-Time)

NexGen is currently seeking a MS 365 Administrator with expertise in configuration MS 365 security controls. You will be responsible for reviewing and updating security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with various IT security standards, as well as contributing to enhancing overall security posture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a MS 365 Administrator, with hands-on experience supporting compliance ISO 27001 and NIST 800-171 standards. This individual will be required to work closely with members of NexGen technical staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Configure MS 365 security policies to ensure compliance with ISO 27001 and NIST 800-171 standards.
Conduct regular IT audits and assessments of existing security controls within the MS 365 tenant to identify potential risks or vulnerabilities.
Collaborate with the IT Coordinator to address and mitigate security risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Assist in preparing for external security audits and certifications.
Work with automated compliance monitoring tools/services (e.g., Vanta, Drata) to streamline compliance processes and ensure continuous monitoring.
Stay up to date with the latest security trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure best practices are followed.
Other duties may be assigned.
Technical Skills:
Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining information security policies and procedures.
2+ years of demonstrable hands-on experience configuring and testing security policies and controls in MS 365 Platform including Azure, SharePoint, PowerPlatform.
Familiarity with automated compliance monitoring tools such as Drata, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of security best practices, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work independently, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards.
Local candidates preferred.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline.
