Job Summary: 

NexGen Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced GIS Full-Stack Developer to support the development and modernization of mission-critical web applications for the Client. This individual will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from design and architecture to coding, testing, and deployment, within a geospatially driven, cloud-based enterprise environment. This role will focus heavily on integrating GIS and non-GIS data sources into scalable, secure applications used across the agency’s national programs. This position is part of a larger effort to improve the Client EGIS platforms and boost location-based services using modern development methods, DevSecOps, and Agile practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (as assigned): 

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end web applications integrating GIS and non-GIS data, using RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. 
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, perform unit and integration testing, and automate software builds and deployments using Git-based version control. 
  • Work with ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro) and open-source mapping tools (Mapbox, Carto, Atlas) to enable location-based visualizations. 
  • Develop, secure, and deploy serverless and container-based solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, MECM, and/ or Intune (for both Windows and Mac platforms). 
  • Ensure compliance with DevSecOps and CISA security principles, including secure coding standards and vulnerability mitigation. 
  • Collaborate with system engineers, product managers, and stakeholder teams to define system architecture and ensure solution alignment with business goals. 
  • Author and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, API specifications, and user guides. 
  • Provide technical mentoring to junior developers and ensure codebase quality through peer reviews, coding standards, and Agile best practices.

Technical Skills: 

  • Minimum 6–8 years of professional full-stack software development experience, with at least 3 years in enterprise-level applications integrating geospatial data. 
  • Advanced proficiency in front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, as well as HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design. 
  • Deep expertise in back-end technologies including Node.js, Python, and .NET Core. 
  • Extensive experience with SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Enterprise Geodatabases. 
  • Proven ability to build and consume RESTful APIs, with a deep understanding of microservices and serverless architectures. 
  • Strong experience with ESRI APIs and SDKs, including ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS Online API, ArcPy, and ArcGIS Pro SDK. 
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools (e.g., Apache JMeter, Selenium), code linting, static analysis, and performance profiling. 
  • Skilled in collaborative development and pipeline orchestration (e.g., Azure DevOps). 
  • Working knowledge of security practices for web and mobile applications, including OWASP guidelines and FIPS-compliant encryption. 

 

Desired Skills: 

  • Passion for continuous learning, staying up to date on emerging technologies such as AI/ML, GIS-based analytics, and cloud-native design patterns. 

 

Additional Requirements: 

  • High attention to detail and commitment to code quality, system documentation, and secure application lifecycle management.  
  • Demonstrated leadership in delivering secure, high-performing web applications in federal or large-scale environments. 
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe) and experience working in fast-paced, iterative development cycles. 
  • Clear communicator with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. 
  • US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.
  • The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment. 
  • Must be able to work core hours of 8:00 AM–4:00 PM MT, with occasional off-hours support during patching or outages.
  • Must maintain information security training compliance and protect privileged government information.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, or a related discipline.


Certifications (Preferred but Not Mandatory): 

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or Solutions Architect Expert 
  • ESRI Developer Certification (Web APIs or ArcGIS Enterprise Administration) 
  • CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent 
  • Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or SAFe Agile Practitioner 


Security Clearance:  

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Tier 2 Medium Background Investigation (MBI). A favorable fingerprint check is required prior to contract start. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to consistently use a keyboard, mouse, computer, and other office productivity tools.
  • Must be able to speak and hear using online meeting tools such as Zoom and Teams and be comfortable on and off camera for videoconferencing calls.
  • For remote positions, a minimum standard internet speed for optimal performance of 50 x 25 (50 mbps download x 25 mbps upload) is required.
  • For remote positions, a dedicated workspace, free from ongoing interruptions, is required to protect sensitive but unclassified federal information. 


Compensation: $80,000-110,000 per year
